Elias Cueto is professor of continuum mechanics at the University of Zaragoza since 2010, having also taught at the University of Oviedo, where he graduated in 1997. He is currently also visiting professor at the Ecole Centrale de Nantes, France. His research lines include computational mechanics in its broadest sense, with particular emphasis on meshless methods, simulation of forming processes, model order reduction and real‐time simulation, among others.

Prof. Cueto is member of the European Scientific Association of Material Forming (ESAFORM) board of directors, and also of the executive committee of the Spanish Society for Numerical Methods in Engineering (SEMNI). He is associate editor of the International Journal of Material Forming and scientific editor of the ESAFORM‐ Springer book series on Material Forming. His research has been awarded with the Juan C. Simo award of SEMNI in 2005, the ESAFORM scientific prize in 2006, the CETIM Foundation prize in 2007 and, more recently, the O. C. Zienkiewicz award of ECCOMAS in 2012.
